Members of the Erikson Institute community fanned out across Chicago the week of April 4 to volunteer on-site at several early childhood settings.

During the 2017 Service Week, Erikson partnered with Christopher House, a family of schools in Chicago offering early learning and grade school environments for children in need.

Erikson volunteers spent time at Christopher House locations in the city’s Uptown, Logan Square, and Belmont Cragin neighborhoods reading books to children, volunteering to help teachers and schools. Other Erikson volunteers have signed up for longer-term mentoring opportunities with children at Christopher House.

Many members of the Erikson community also are donating books, which Christopher House has identified as a priority.

You can join our book drive, too! Picture books as well as classics are needed for infants up to second-graders, and can be in English or Spanish. To participate, please send new books to Erikson Institute, care of Michelle Jackson, 451 N. LaSalle St., Chicago, IL 60654, or drop them off in a donation bin on our campus. Erikson Institute will accept donations through April.
